Hello, my name is Steven Banas and I am a UX/UI Designer, User Researcher, and Digital Psychologist. Understanding the user, and crafting an experience that fits them and their needs is my passion. I acquired my passion for user experience while completing my Masters of Applied Psychology at Arizona State University. At ASU I learned how to be both a Psychologist and UX/UI Designer. Having both skill-sets allows me to not just design intuitive interfaces, but better understand why they are intuitive for the user. My goal has always been to make sure that any interface that I have input into becomes a more intuitive, and pleasant experience for all that use it.
UX design at it's core is about understanding the user's needs, and then translating those requirements into a functional and intuitive interface for the user. With my many years experience in UX designer roles I have learned how to listen to the user and translate those needs into wireframes, mockups, and prototypes using such tools as Axure, Sketch, Photoshop, and Adobe XD.
Understanding a product's user base is about listening to the user, and asking the right questions. By understanding and empathizing with the end user, it not just helps the design but the whole product. Over the years I have learned how to ask the right questions and get to the heart of what a user wants and needs in the products that they use.
Each person is unique, but there are underlying principles that govern how we think and process. Understanding these laws, theories and principles aides me in designing great user experiences. My psychology background has not just taught me how to do research but also how to best design an experiment and analyze the results.
